I've gotten to know Carolyn over the past two years as we've been in the same weekly small group and attended church together. A fellow east-coaster, we bonded quickly over soft pretzels and a deep affinity for cheese.
She has a remarkable story: she taught at a school in China for six years and came back to the States in 2013 and joined our church's Fellowship program, knowing only a handful of people in Colorado. Her heart for the city and for children is so evident. She is incredibly kind, patient, and a wonderful friend.
Remember Matt and Kendra?? Their big day was on September 6th and it was SO fun to be a part of it. Everything was so laid back and relaxed. Kendra even invited me to join her bridesmaids for a quiet lunch before they got ready. I couldn't believe it was a wedding day - they just chatted and laughed as if it was a normal Saturday.
I don't think Debbie stopped smiling for more than three seconds throughout her entire wedding day. From the second I walked through the door in the morning until she blew me a kiss from her getaway car that night, she wore a huge grin. Even when she started crying at different points throughout the day, Tim would make a face or whisper something to her to make her laugh.
Matt and Kendra separately joined eHarmony in 2013. Kendra went on a couple dates, but definitively says, "There were no second dates." Matt only went on one date through the site, and it was with Kendra.
One month ago today, my sister Mattie got married! She became an "Official Ober."
I don't think I've ever seen a bride that so closely resembled Barbie. Which is just so, so Mattie. She is all things glitter, tulle, lace, and sparkle. She is a Mary Kay Director so you better believe the color pink wove its way through the wedding, too.
I've been friends with Debbie since I started my job about a year and a half ago. The best word to describe her is sunny. She is always so bright and energetic, even when I know she's had a rough day.
I also have known Tim for about a year and a half. He worked with us too. He was always very nice and never left his dirty dishes in the sink. My interaction with Tim was very much centered around trips to the communal kitchen...until Debbie started throwing his name into conversations.
Because of Josh, we have a wonderful church community here in Denver. Because of Josh, Travis has a lunch date every Friday for the indefinite future. And because of Josh, I found one of my closest friends, Erin.
