Matt + Kendra...Engaged!
Matt and Kendra separately joined eHarmony in 2013. Kendra went on a couple dates, but definitively says, "There were no second dates." Matt only went on one date through the site, and it was with Kendra.
The first time she got a message from him, she was at a concert at Chautauqua Park in Boulder (hence the location of the shoot). They chatted back and forth for a few days, agreeing to meet in person the following week.
Their first date was at Washington Park in Denver and Kendra remembers it well. "First, I remember thinking it was like a movie. It started to rain and we had to sprint through the park and take cover. We got ice cream and saw the sunset. Second, I remember walking away from the date thinking that this guy was marriage material."
The conversation flowed so naturally from the very beginning, something both of them appreciated immediately. And though Kendra was thinking long-term from the start, it took Matt two more dates to catch up. "We went on an 8-hour date for our third date to Elitch's Amusement Park. I couldn't believe that we didn't run out of things to say. It meant a lot to me that I could be with someone I don't know for that long and not feel uncomfortable. It was fun and I definitely knew this could get serious."
That ease has continued through their dating relationship and is something that is so apparent in their movements together. Matt's hand naturally gravitates toward Kendra's hand or back as they walk alongside one another. Their conversation is always playful and light, even when they talk about serious things like their faith.
My favorite moment of their session came when Kendra changed her outfit. She came out of the bathroom and it was like I wasn't there. Matt said, "Wow, you look great! Look at those calves!" I started to laugh and they explained to me that Kendra's calves are a running joke amongst friends. I mean, they are really impressive (just scroll down).
Matt kept referencing them the rest of the night. We were walking down Pearl Street and he said, "Seriously, I was going to write a Song of Solomon about your calves today at work. I had no idea it would have fit so perfectly tonight."
It was adorable and so are they. I'm so excited to photograph their wedding in September...please check back on the blog to see pictures then!
Oh, and CONGRATS you guys!
